1. Scope and provider

These terms of service apply to the use of the website havannah.eu ("platform"), operated by Peter Christian Preuss, Sankt Augustin. By registering, you accept these terms.

2. Services

The platform offers playing Havannah online: games against humans, games against an AI, ratings (Glicko-2), game analysis, puzzles, chat and further features. Use is currently free of charge. There is no entitlement to permanent availability; maintenance work and changes to the scope of functions remain reserved.

3. Registration and account

An account with correct information is required. The account is personal and non-transferable; access data must be kept secret. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate ratings is not permitted.

4. Fair play and prohibited conduct

Prohibited in particular: using engines or external help during rated games (cheating), collusion to manipulate ratings (sandbagging, rating boosting), insults, harassment, hate speech, illegal content in chat, disrupting operations (bots, scraping, DoS) and attempts to circumvent security measures. Violations may lead to a warning, rating deduction, temporary or permanent suspension of the account.

5. User content and moderation

You are responsible for your own chat posts. We reserve the right to remove content that is illegal or violates these terms. Content can be reported via the report function (Digital Services Act). We review reports and respond appropriately.

6. Warranty and liability

The platform is operated carefully; however, error-free operation cannot be guaranteed. Liability is – insofar as legally permissible – limited to intent and gross negligence; in the event of breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations), we are liable for simple negligence, limited to the foreseeable, contract-typical damage. Liability under the Product Liability Act and for damage arising from injury to life, body or health remains unaffected.

7. Termination and account deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the account area (GDPR Art. 17). We may suspend or delete accounts in the event of violations. In the case of a permanent suspension, a justification is provided on request.

8. Governing law

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the consumer's country of residence remain unaffected.

9. Changes

Changes to these terms will be announced in good time. Continued use after they come into force is deemed acceptance unless you object.
